I thought it would have been way way closer than it was for this Senate race as well as the governor race. Dem's crushed them in both. Hell if I had known it wouldn't even be close I wouldn't have bothered going out to the booths. All I have to say is 6 words: Blacks came out to vote yesterday. I'm glad Maryland had a changing of the guard, even if taxes will go up.

If everyone thought that way, the races probably wouldn't be close. People died for your right to vote. Don't dishonor them by not voting if you don't think it won't be close.

Depends on the race/state...
Any liberal running for president will carry California, New York, Maryland and Mass.
Any neoconservative running for president will carry Utah, Alabama, Mississippi, and Texas.

I live in Maryland...I don't see a point in voting for Presidential candidates...waste of time really.

I only cast my vote where it's needed.

I was basing my optimism on the fact that all the results that we had seen up to that time had Steele ahead. And the fact that the WAPO had withdrawn their prediction.

I am very surprised by the size of the victory by Cardin.
NONE of the polls were showing a 10 point lead for him. Most of them were showing a 3-4 point lead.

My guess is that there were a lot of Democrats who were just not happy with Cardin, be all reports Steele walked all over him during the debates, and the unhappiness was showing in the polls.
However, when they walked into the polls they closed their noses and voted for Cardin anyway. Just like I voted for a certain Senator here in FL who I would have rather not voted for.

Now some spin :)
Cardin won 54-44 My OP said that for Steele to even be close is a surprise.

Last three senate elections were won by Democrats 65-34, 63-37 and 71-30
So Steele's 10 point loss is much better than the 26+ point losses of the past.
