Why the knock on Chris Webber?

His legal troubles followed him and are what sets him apart from the others you mentioned. Ewing won an NCAA title, at least. Dominique never played on a championship-caliber team.

Weber was fantastically gifted, and has great career numbers, but I guess the knock on them is, he wasted his talent. He could have been so much better.

He was a great player, but not a great winner. Throw in some tantrums, some some lies, and the statement during his contract negotiations that the offer wasn't enough 'to feed speewell's family', he was labeled spoiled. (j/k on that last part :p)

I think he's still HOF material tho.

C Webb was talented, but soft. Great career numbers, but never put in that special game or playoff series. For you to mention him in the same breath with Ewing, Barkley, and "The Human Highlight" Nique is a joke. Webber was never in the same class with those players.

I think classy to an extent said it best. CWebb was talented, but in my opinion not great. He was missing that special moment, takeover the game ability. MJ, Kobe, AI, Bird all had the "gimme that shit, we're leaving this place with a W." I never witnessed CWebb do such a thing.

Michgan fans will never forget or forgive that blunder.

please, it wasn't like he was a bench warmer that fucked it up, he was the star. Without him you don't get to the final four.

Super talented but soft. He never played up to his potential IMO and shouldn't be considered with the likes of Barkley, Nique, and Ewing.

he was a pathetic defender, and he was the reason the Kings never made it over that hump

He's a choker to put it bluntly. He have never elevated his game when his team needed him. Plus he's punk.

He was a star? Please, not even close. I will concede that he treated and paid like a star while in high school and college, though. Ed Martin should have bet of a different pony, this one never seemed to quite finish the race his entire career.

Not a star? Give me a break, he was the #1 pick as a soph.

Not a star!?!? That is ridiculous. He was a first team all American and finalist for the Wooden and Naismith Awards. His sophomore season he shot 61.9% FG% socred 19.2 PPG, 10.1 RB and 2.5 Assists.

LOL, this guy was a loser on and off the court. You forgot when listing his stats to include:

second-degree assault
resisting arrest
possession of marijuana a couple of times
being dropped by Fila
lying to a grand jury
criminal contempt
caused Michigan to have to forfeit many games
had his stats deleted from the record books
suspensions for violating NBA substance abuse policy
never lead any of his teams to a ring

Hell of a player.

And nothing which supports your ignorant statement claiming him to be not even close to a star on the fab 5.

Having your stats deleted takes the shine off that star, if not erasing it entirely.

Definitely not a HOF material ... never played both ends of the court, and since his collegiate records don't technically exist anymore, a tarnished legacy.

He was the backbone of the fab 5 (altho their success 'technically' doesn't exist anymore :D), rookie of the year, 5 time allstar. Averaged as much as 27 points a game. Best passing big man in the game. He won't be the first HOF'er that wasn't too hot on the defensive end.
