Why the hell would you buy expensive ram? (PC2700, PC3200, PC3500...)

I was thinking of getting a 2100+ bred b, epox 8rda, and pc3200 ram. I though this would be a good buy cause i could overclock the hell out of my cpu and get a huge bang for my buck. But then i though, why would i not use pc2100 ram instead and use that huge amount of money saved and invest that in a much better proccessor? For much less i could get a 2400+, epox 8k7a, and use the crucial pc2100 ram that i already have. Would'nt that be the better choice? Or does having an extremely high fsb make all the difference.

How much better would a 2100+ @ 2400+ (oc'ed by fsb) be then a 2400+?? Would it be worth all that extra money spent on nice ram?

5%-10% at most. Might be less than that. As said, the increased FSB increases the bandwidth thus improve the throughput of the CPU to the Memory and vice versa.
