download the startup.cpl program from softseek.com and see if theirs a reg entry that causes it to open up...or else maybe u dragged it onto your startup folder under the start menu..at least that what happenned to me once.
no, its not in my startup or my registry, i already checkd, im not an idiot.
heh, well sitll its always open, i heard of a virus in notepad.exe, can someone tell me anything?
Tons of virus's can infect notepad.exe, especially some of the newer polymorphics, worms ect.
Do you by chance have a file named note.com on your H.D.? it's related to some recent worms that rename notepad.exe to note.com and then take over notepad.exe.
If you do, shut your internet connection off now and get that system scanned by one of the latest scanners. At a random time it will send itself to everyone in your address book.
All I can recommend is to check your system with the latest scanners and then check all your startups in the registry and your start menu/startup and even your recent documents list.
Go to Run and type msconfig, then go to startup.
Awesome, thanks for the find, chiwawa...my parents' computer has been acting up, and after helping out my dad with some long distance troubleshooting, I was perplexed why Notepad was always running in the processes list. This must be the problem.
What virus detection program did you use to get rid of it?
i used norton, i didnt remove is, wanted to quarintine it.
so i deleted the file and used the reg patch from the link CRV gave
then i just re-named note.exe to notepad.exe
