Why the hell is beef jerky so damn expensive?

I just bought some Jack Link's Beef Steak Nuggets (Damn good!), and the small package, which was less than 1/4 full, cost $6! I am about ready to just take my Bowie knife into my friend's backyard and take down some game of my own to make my own jerky.

It's much cheaper at a warehouse store. Although, I wish Sam's would carry slim jim jerky (not the sticks). That stuff is darn tasty.

anyways, I thought the jack links stuff is good. Have yet to get funky pieces, or strands of tendon and silverskin stuck in my teeth.

Anyone know of a good source to get venison jerky? mmm... I can't wait for my brother in law to make more.

Yep, we have one too.

It's still never cheap though. The ratio is like 4 pounds of meat to make 1 pound of jerky.
