I am still trying to get him to buy off on the idea of getting a card and the ram, but like I said, he's not big into anything but web browsing and some minor office apps. I tend to go big when I do things, but he's not that way. It's hard for me to help him choose because if it was me, I would tell him to get two sticks of 256 DDR ram from kingston with a rebate for 24.99 a stick, and then I'd talk him into at least a 9200se...
This all started when I blew up his POS lexar 300watt power supply by consolidating two of his computers into one. All I did was swap out a bad A drive, and put his other 40X CD burner in his good computer and bam... dead PSU. So, as I was diddling with that and trying to explain to him the importance of a putting in a better "named" brand PSU, I was trying to tell him why his computer was slow as heck. I did my best to explain why you want more RAM, and why you would want a video card to have it's own source.
All your advice helped out a lot, but I think he is going to go with another stick of 256 because he is getting it from someone at work for cheap. Hey, if he's happy..., I guess!
