Why the hell do cell phone companies think they can charge more for bandwidth if it contains a picture or text message?

They can because people are willing to pay, but soon folk are going to figure out a text message, uses less bandwidth than conversation, and is half duplex.
WTF aren?t folks protesting?
Call your cell phone provider and tell them charging you more for text and pictures is bogus.
 
Cuz people are stupid and since all companies do it, its a big cash cow for them all. Part of the profit probably goes in to making rate plans cheaper.
