Why the heck won't these comentators lay off of Tiger Woods??

My gawd guys, give it a rest. So he isn't having the best game, he can't win them all. They're acting like it's the end of the world for Tiger since he isn't near the top of the leader board. These guys are almost as bad as Bill Walton

Heh, it's always like that. Tiger isn't the most consistent player just yet - and no one wants to realize that. But they do give him extra $hit because he's in the spotlight. Once he matures I think they'll lay off his game just a little

It is indeed annoying to have the whole US Open story be "TIGER CHOKES!!!! HOLY CRAP!!" So many other interesting things going on (Hale Irwin for one) and all they can talk about/cover is TW. Don't get me wrong, the guy is amazing, but they need to give it a rest. Golf is just one of those games you can't always dominate no matter how good you are...I think the announcers had started to believe he was going to win every week or something.

I'm rooting for Mike Weir personally....I think he's got a very solid game and couldn't be a nicer guy.

The lakers win, and everyone is loving and praising them. They lose one game, and philly is now the team of heart. The lakers start winning again, everyone jumps back on the laker train.

Tiger is the greatest, but to a comentator, he's only as good as his last putt.

well, everyone wanted their autographs....ernie and phil were super nice and gave us the autographs...while tiger was being a PR!CK...wouldn't even look at us....this is a practice round man!!! relax will ya! I said...he just gave me a mean stare....WHATEVER!

from the looks of thing, I REALLY hope he won't make the cut! screw tiger! David Duval should be da man! He's no champion in my eye, and the thing about the Tiger Slam is just ======> LAFF!

This is why I`ve come to the point of not caring about Tiger Woods. Great golfer, no doubt about it, but everybody seems to think he is the only golfer out there. Same deal with Jeff Gordon. I`m sick of hearing their names.

In all fairness, every knowledgeable commentator (and oddsmaker) regards him as essentially unbeatable in major tournaments (his odds going into the Open were 6/5!), and he is SO heavily favored that anything but a dominating performance is regarded as a failure. I hardly agree that he &quot;can't back up his smack,&quot; as he has consistently laid the smack down when it mattered for the last few years. The fact that he is not perfect hardly seems like a fair basis for criticism.

But then, he's been on the other end of the stick too.

I can remember a couple of years ago that invariably when someone else was leading a tournament you wouldn't see that person's picture in the paper, but rather, they would show a picture of Tiger. Same goes to a lesser extent with the Williams girls. I'm not faulting Woods or the Williams for that, just an observation. Same goes with local coverage of college graduations. Our paper up here in Albany NY ALWAYS features a picture of a black person in cap &amp; gown etc. Almost treating it as a novelty or something. Very strange.

Anyway, Woods IS the best and may become the best ever.
