Why the heck can't I buy a Canon i950 printer?

I love Newegg, but I wanted a printer today, specifically the Canon i950.
Now, Canon can tell me Staples, BestBuy, Costco, and Sams carry that model in my area.
Staples, Costco, Bestbuy, and Sams say they have never carried that printer, but can possibly order it for me.
This is no big deal, but I am surprised that when I call Canon and say, " Want to drive to a store and buy a Canon i950 printer." they can not help me.

I bought my i950 at CompUSA. Oh look, what's this? Don't ever expect employees at those places to know what they have. You'll have to go to each store and check their stock yourself to find out.

BTW, I LOVE my i950. Prints super fast high quality pictures and prints more than fast enough for standard black and white on plain paper as well.

Sorry you can't find one local, but it's worth the wait if you have to get it shipped from an online vendor.
I got mine from Amazon about 10 weeks ago for $224 shipped and It's a seriously impressive consumer priced printer.

Good luck!

Got mine at a Staples B&M. It was more in store, but they pricematch their own website. I tried a few other places too. I was told that the printer was unexpectedly popular, and most everyone has sold out. Meebe that's what your problem is.

I bought an i950s yesterday at Sam's Club for $218. They had lots of 'em. I gather the difference between the i950 and i950s is that the s version includes a USB cable and a Dazzle 6-in-1 card reader.
