Honestly people, the election is over, whats the point of cuasing all this friction between parties, Its not like any of them will actually not get approved, so this seems some what hypocritical of the Democratic party.

<< Senate Democrats and liberal advocacy groups are preparing to vigorously contest three of President-elect Bush's most controversial Cabinet selections. Although they have little expectation that the nominees will be defeated, they plan to use the confirmation hearings to portray Bush as closely aligned with the far right. >>

Are we gonna get something done over the next 4 years or are we gonna argue like children?

<< Bush "obviously feels no need to continue with the idea of being a uniter and reaching out to both sides," said Sen. Patrick J. Leahy (D-Vt.), the Democrat's ranking member on the Judiciary Committee. >>

Another retarted comment, who's starting the argument here? And im sure if Gore was elected, you would be whining if he didnt choose cabinet members closer to the "middle", bah, what a bunch of BS.

<< Kate Michelman, president of the National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League, said the hearings will "begin to define for the American public the real George Bush." >>

Well one thing i do know about him, hes not going to base his decisions on trying to keep everyone happy. If he did that, nothing would get done, duh, maybe he wont keep 100% of the country happy, which by the way is impossible, you can at least get SOMETHING done while in office.

IMO, whoever gets in an office should get 4 years to do whatever the hell they need to do, I mean of course they get checks and balances from the other branches of government, but just because a Man is from the other political party do you have to fight him tooth and nail on every move? thats really why there is so much gridlock in this country and also why the American public feel no confidenc in thier government, and some stupid guy can run for President and declare "It's time for a change" 200 times a minute and get himself elected.

whew, my rant for the day....

The new radio icon for bashing the occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. will be Bernie Ward.;)

Train, you echo the exact feelings of Dems from listening to the likes of Rush limbaugh and the right wing radicals for the last 8 years.

How does it feel?

Not good huh?

Get used to it,its going to be a long 4 years, unless trent Lott screws everything up and then only 2 years for a congressional overhaul.

Just my $.02

This is just a preview of what's to come.. Not one major piece of legistration will be past in the next 2 years because both parties will be trying to make the other party look bad so they can win enough seats to control the congress in 2002..

It really cracks me up that the republicans spent 8 years trying to pry Clinton out of the White House, and now they're like "but be nice to our guy, let's all cooperate!". Payback's a bitch, and the Republicans have earned a ton of it.

The democrats are getting back at the Rs. Just as the Rs did last time to the Ds but only because last time they got the shaft. The cycle continues, America is confused/apathetic/drone-like and eventually all this stupidity will be paid for in anarchy. Damn I sound like some old people I know. :|

You poor people in the boonies, I mean some of you who have the misfortune to be relatively distanced fron the central driving force of world culture, the left coast, and in particular, San Francisco have sadly never heard REAL talk radio. You can read a bit about Bernie Ward and also Ray Taliaferro, who makes Bernie sound like a candy ass here.

Thanks for the heads up. I thought he was east coast. I just saw him on one of cnn's talking head shows right after the election. He has strong opinions and the resources to back up his views on left and right issues.

I peg him to be the counter to Rush for the next 4 years. I might be wrong, though. I do not listen to talk radio anymore. I will catch his broadcast now on the web.;)

I hope that the Democrats give the appointees a hard time. That is part of the process and I actually think it is an important part of the checks and balances in place. No opposition and no dissenting voices is bad.

It's just politics, politicians dont know any other way. Dont sweat it.

There is always somebody that doesnt like an appointee, sometimes the appointees simply become targets for political gain.
It remains to be seen if this turns out to geniuine opposition or just a grandstand to show Bush that it is not going to be easy.

IMHO, Bush is having it much easier than I thought he would. Maybe some credit is due to Bush picking good people, and really wanting to "Unite", or it is just the calm before the storm.

So far, i think he has done a good job of speaking softly (in terms of rhetoric) and making good moves on his cabinet. I really like that he wasnt afraid to PO the far right.
