When I start up my computer I get an error message stating "CPU Fan not running, Shutdown now? (Y/N)" But it IS running, runs fine.

Anybody have any suggestions as to why this error message started showing up? Plus, does anyone know how to fix it?

Thanks!

Started?? showing up?
So it didn't before?

I would tell you to plug your cpu fan into the appropriate header on your mother, the one labelled 'cpu' :)
But .. since it sounds like this only started to happen .. and your cpu fan is plugged into the appropriate header, might just mean that the fan sensor is busted, the header is flaking out .. just turn it off in the bios.

Nah, hadn't turned that off yet. I am just suprised that is started happening after a year of use.

I'll go ahead and do that. Thanks!

man that sucks, you shouldn't have to turn accommodate(sp?) for the motherboard fan sensor busting. but if you don't care that's fine by me.

Does your CPU fan use a 3 pin monitored fan connection and is it plugged into the motherboard CPU fan connector?

Even some fans that are 3-pin do not actually support fan speed monitoring. What CPU fan are you using?

If you go into the BIOS under Hardware monitoring, you should be able to disable CPU fan monitoring.
