I have the same prob as well, but it only happens once in a blue moon and after my computer has been on and logged in for like a week straight. Anywayz, it only happens under Win2k. Me thinks it's the Via busmaster drivers from VIA service pack 4.32a that I had installed. Doesn't really bother me tho, cuz I log out and log back in w/o probs.

[edit] had to edit cuz I forgot to type something in the first time, woops! [/edit]

I'm having a similar problem on win 98. First it was my toshiba dvd drive, but now it seems like my liteon drive is having problems too. I put in a cd and the light goes on and off repeatedly and finally says the drive is inaccessible or there's nothing in the drive. Any solutions?

I find that when I leave my machine on for days at a time, the IDE cables start working there way out of the cdroms. and when the move far enough, I start getting problems. i have to powerdown then push them back in. why dont that make those ide connections lock into place, they are kind of important. aren't they?

Same problem here, only I'm on an ancient P2-450 running Win2k with an ATI Radeon All In Wonder.

Could it be Nero? What burning software is everyone using?

I end up removing the device, rebooting, redetecting, rebooting - then things are fine for a couple days.
