Because bands that are becoming popular are featured on Leno. For bands to become popular, they have to play music that fits the current popular sound.

So, all the bands on Leno will sound like whatever the current popular trend is.

I agree, except for the fact that it's difficult to discover talented artists when the recording industry is too busy trying to force-feed the sh!t that's on Leno down our throats.

What pisses me off is that sound USED to be solid when it was underground and only played by those who were talented with it. Now that the media got ahold of it it's garbage.

Corporate rock.

Company-manufactured bands that do nothing creative but just clone the mainstream.

Because for the most part good music died in the late 1970's when disco was running amok through the countryside.

The music industry is pushing lots of new acts in order to find one or two that can produce a "smash hit." So, we get the pleasure of hearing these drone turds.

Almost all of my CDs are from the 80's and early 90's. I can think of only a few I've bought that were released after 1995.

Music is just about dead.

True. They have no musical knowledge and are not creative enough to come up w/ something new. I can't tell one group from the next, and there are hundreds of practically unknown bands. When I try to find out who plays a certain song, it's always a band I never heard of before. One top-40 hit wonders.

Pretty much. Once a band that does sound a little bit different starts getting heard, labels will look specifically for that sort of band, and then the producers will screw with it until it tests well in focus groups or some crap like that.

Yup.

Real bands are formed in garages, and not in conference rooms on the 34th floor of a media conglomerate's high rise.

I think you're problem is that you expect Leno to book something other than the corporate shills that NBC tells them to book. who watches leno to find good music/ new bands?
