Why the $300 dollar difference ?

Crucial M4 512GB is 399.99 , about 400 dollars couple places I checked.

Sammy 830 512GB is 700 dollars if not a bit more.

That is a 300 dollar difference in SSD.

Which one would you get ? I heard the Sammy is awesome drive but I also here people saying M4 is awesome drive.

I have them both the sammy is better but i continue to buy the crucial.

My opinion is the 399 price for the crucial trumps the better performance of the sammy.

after gift card discounts I listed in hot deals i can buy the 512gb crucial for $280 at amazon.

the 512gb sammy is $507 after the gift card discounts.

the price difference is too much to ignore.

I would get the Samsung 830. It costs much more, therefore it is better by default.

More > Less

Therefore you would be broke all the time. OP get the M4, its a great drive as well. For the $300 difference you can get an IVB CPU and Mobo.

I'm not so sure about that. The original JMicron drives were pretty bad. Love me some 2000ms access times.

If you have the money for the Sammy - why not buy TWO M4's?

Yes, I think 700 dollars for a SSD os way too much. Thats a CPU mobo and ram and a video card you can buy with that much.

Im going to get the M4 512GB in a bout two weeks. 😱

Didn't you post this exact same question a month ago?
He's been asking this exact question in about 4 different threads now.

I would guess that the m4's successor is not too far away so they're selling out before announcing as sales will drop if people know a new model is on the horizon. Although there are no such price crashes in the UK so that may not be the case. I can get 830's for less than m4's in the UK from our closest equivalent to Newegg.

The Samsung is a better drive and worth a small premium, but at that difference the m4 is a steal.

Sorry Coup27 .... Yes Ill go with M4 I hope it plays nice with my marvel controller

I searched for the threads but couldn't find it. Soo I posted this. Sorry ..

Sammy is way over priced along with Vertex 4 and Intel...... Crucial makes good RAM soo I trust them. gl

The M4 doesn't get great firmware support. They only update it for serious problems. The firmware could be tweaked for better performance (look at Plextor). Still a great deal for the 512GB.

without looking deeply into the specs, it is not a issue of 32nm vs 25nm with the two drives?

I know locally with the 256GB drives there can be about $150-200 difference with the different flash being noticable on the difference checklist.
