Why T-Mobile > Cingular

Because T-Mobile has that sexy brunette in their commercials. What's her name anyway?

Kind of off the subject, but why does the US get the out-dated phones?

You guys don't get some of the nicer phones. Some of the Nokia models in Europe are hot, compared to the US equivalents.

Also, why does everyone prefer clam phones? That's probably why you guys get all the crap phones.

i have had both. in fact i just switched to tmobile from cingular, and use the same unlocked phone (nokia 6230b).

i switched mostly to take advantage of a deal (got a moto slvr from tmobile for $75 for switching which i ebayed for $300 so basically got paid $225 to switch).

but i have discovered some advantages to tmobile.

tmobile customer service is like 5000 times better than cingular.

i actually have SBC dsl and chose the combined bill option with cingular (which they now own) . anyhow, for example... call sbc and if you get through you get an indian person.
that already sucks.

the other thing is if you call phone support for billing on cingular and are on combined bills, you must call during norma lbusiness hours.

contrast that to tmobile who i had to call the other day. i called at 1am. talked with a very friendly english speaking american, who was very helpful about a billing question that i was confused with. they even flagged my account to call me back in 5 days to make sure the problem was not a real problem.

i mean for the same cost, usually the tmobile phone deals are better as they give more incentive to the stores that sell their phones (thus an unlocked slvr euro edition is $75 there ) AND they have better customer service and more rate plan options.
i mean for $39.99 you can get 600 minutes + night/weekends. or 1000 minutes. honestly tmobile > cingular.

one thing though is that cingular has better branded phones. i normally get my phones from little mom and pops stores that will sell you unlocked international phones (which they pay for with the cingular / tmobile signup fees they get) , but if you go to a real cingular or tmobile store , cingular has much better phones (i.e. my 6230b which was a cingulra phone, and their current slvr etc) . then again you will get raped at the official stores so dont go there. if you watn a deal on an official branded phone use amazon.com

honestly i just switch back and forth every year (i keep my phone 2 years generally, so basically i get $200 or so every other year for switching), with unlocked phones to get free phones but the years i have tmobile its the little things that make them better. reception is identical here in socal so that isnt a big factor.

I find candybar phones unpleasant to use.

I hate when people dis a cellular carrier because of the reception. If you aren't able to get good reception where you primarily use your phone, then switch companies. This isn't really directed at you So, so don't take it that way. This is more for those out there who say a company sucks because the reception is shotty (which you didn't).

Me, personally, have never had any problems whatsoever with T-Mo in the year and a half that I've had them. Tech support, although used very sparingly, has always been great. Reception has always been great, and is getting a LOT better in surrounding small cities where I once wasn't getting anything (I knew about the reception coverage when I signed up, so no biggie). I've maybe had 1 or 2 dropped calls in my tenure with T-Mo, but I couldn't pinpoint them out over the thousands of calls I've made and received, so that's excellent IMO.

tmobile customer service is like 5000 times better, than all others, period.

fixed.

I have tmobile and I don't really notice the poor reception. I think they've gotten a whole lot better in recent years. I like tmobile phones...much better for much less, imo.

I have a Nokia 6800 am still waiting for the Nokia E70 which is out in Europe but not here, BTW the 6822 had barely hit the market and it should have a long time ago 🙁.
E70
E70 Pic 2
BTW : clam shells suck, and Nokia was the only company that didn't follow in that same sh!tty trend, but then they made one so fvck them for that 😉

<---- T-mobile customer.

TMO has good customer service. But for me, TMO is the only option. I spend quite a while in Germany every year, and since TMO is a German company, I get better reception all over Germany and Europe than I do in the USA in many cases.

i asked one of the cingular sales guys about what phones get the best reception (as far as cingular) and he said motorola or nokia
