Why such animosity towards police officers?

I, personally, have not met a mean/unreasonable police officer, and I have met quite a few.

Why are so many of you so angry towards the men and women that keep order in our society?

Because they get paid so much for doing such easy, laid-back, stressless work. :D

A whole lot of them are assholes.

A school bus crashed through a wall near my house, so I ran out and started taking pictures and I thought they were going to arrest me. I basically had to run back to my house to get away from one officer.

I'm not. I think they do us a great service. One of my best friends is in the Academy right now. If you do something wrong, they have the right to call you on it. As one of the officers said to me when I got my first ticket, "We all make mistakes, you just got caught. Suck it up and take it like a man."

Because whenever they could have been useful, they're not there.

However they love to harass you over stupid things like: sitting on the sidewalk, being in a state park after 10:00PM, driving a car without a front license plate.

i dont have 'animosity' towards them, but when the majority that i have meant have been total a$$hats, i dont usually think highly of them. the nice/good ones are great, and i thank them for what they do, but the ones that are total jerks, i dont support. if your gonna serve the community, do it nicely, if you dont wanna be there or dont wanna be doing it, QUIT.

Well I've been pulled over by them twice and given a warning on one occasion. I've actually met two at parties and spoken with them and they seemed nice.

That said kill the pigs. DAMN THEM!!!!!!!!! Snort Snort!

Cause the cops in my town are either A asses, or B biased. they are just the jocks that graduated form my school so when some kids have a party and get drunk and then one of them kills himself by shooting himself in the head with a shotgun the people that got the alcohol for the underage party get a slap on the wrist and go on there way. School does the same thing. Also if the cops know there is a party somewhere or there are drugs there they dont care as long as the kids are either football or basketball palyers. So therefore the cops here = men in uniforms that write parking/speeding tickets (which iu dont see as very hard to do)

(we were 14 by the way)

You probably looked like hoodlums :) I was stopped when 14 once with my friend. That said teens do get a hard time from cops because, unfortunately, a lot of teens need to be kept in line and out of trouble. Not saying you're like that but when you become a little older I don't think you'll feel harassed by the POH-lice.

You guys should have resisted, he has no right to search your bags without a reasonable suspicion

Because we are Americans, and we live in a country that was founded by a bunch of men who had a problem with authority. Not only that, but I will never trust a group of people who have the ultimate power to infringe upon my rights as an American. I have more trust in cops as individuals, but as a group, I am wary. The United States is such the bastion of freedom, it is only natural for some people to have a problem with authority.

I've got no problems with the cops around here, or in general. Well except for the complete asshole ones that think they own the world, however I don't like anyone like that. I've been pulled over for speeding five times and only been ticketed three times. Deserved a ticket everytime, but got cut a break. Never had to deal with a truly asshole cop yet, but I don't need to deal with them to know I won't like them.

Cause I got arrested for being black on a Friday night....

Actually I just hate them becuase they have nothing to do besides drive around and pull you over for things. When I was 15 a cop pulled us over because he though we were someone else. While we were pulled over he decided to give us curfew tickets. Most cops would have been like just go home. He gave us a curfew ticket. Back when I was in middle school they gave my mom a ticket for letting me hang onto her car in our couldesac on my roller blades. Oh yeah, then another time we were all lying on top of our cars watching a drive in movie and 10 cop cars came in, sorrounded us, frisked us and almost gave us tickets for theft of service because some lady reported that there was a drive by shooting and a bunch of kids were lying dead on top of their cars. The simple problem is that in Littleton, CO and Boulder, CO there are way too many cops with nothing to do. This is not to mention tons of close calls with underaged drinking.

Because people like to pin their own faults on somebody else. It's a lack of personal responsibility which America has come to accept. Yeah, there are some bad cops out there. I've never met any, but I'm not denying their existance.

Somebody gets caught speeding... it's the cop's fault, of course. So what does he do next time he's pulled over? He gives the cop an attitude, because he knows the law better than the cop now, of course. He pays his salary, right? Cops don't pay taxes. They sit around and eat donuts and give tickets. And when there is an actual crime, they aren't there instantly, damn them!

It's cool to hate cops. All the "cool" people hate cops. Rappers, gangsters, druggies... they're cool, so people want to be like them. Hell, if a cop ever tried to arrest me, he'd get his ass kicked. They're so fat that I could kick all their asses. Wait, those bastards shot me! God, they can't tell the difference between a gun and a cell phone 50 feet away while I'm screaming at them... complete idiots!

When I was 15 I got a new motorcycle and was just running it back and forth down my street. I lived in a small community right next to a giant field where people would go riding all the time. A cop happened to pull by and I was right infront of my house and he gave 500 dollars worth of tickets (speeding, no registration, + like 5 more i don't remember) and confonscated my bike. Jerkass. I was only 15, I didn't know what was going on. It was my dads bike and if my dad was home he would have ripped that cop a new one. He was pissed that this cop confonscated the bike of a 15 year old. I should also mention he called in backup and had another squad car come and a motorcycle cop come.

Then again just a few weeks ago I was going about 90 in a 60 and got pulled over but the cop let me off with 69 in a 60 saying he would let me off but 30mph over is just too much.
