Since Obama started his Presidential campaign, she hasn't had him on (she wants to be impartial because she supports him). There is word (from Drudge) that Oprah's people were arguing about having her on. Oprah denies any of this ever happened.

But all this is ironic because she's not doing interviews and she allegedly called Obama a "sambo" and Clinton a "bitch".

I heard that Obama (supposedly) said he couldn't wait to stick it to whitey if elected.

The word you're looking for is "allegedly."

I think it works like this:

1. Oprah is a very open supporter of Obama.

2. Oprah has a show that caters to women.

3. Palin IS a woman.

4. This Oprah should have Palin on her show because she is a woman and to give the appearance of balance.

Not sure I buy the argument since Obama hasn't been on the show in a year or so.
But I think Oprah could have a very good show by having Palin on to talk about her life and how she got to where she is without getting real heavy into the politics of it all.

TMZ reports, Oprah said that she didn't want to allow any candidate to use her show as a platform so she said she would not have any of the candidates appearing on her show.

Oprah to Palin: I Can Pencil You In Later
Posted Sep 5th 2008 1:41PM by TMZ Staff

Oprah has issued a statement to TMZ -- she won't put Sarah Palin on her show until after the election.

Here's the statement: "The item in today's Drudge Report is categorically untrue. There has been absolutely no discussion about having Sarah Palin on my show. At the beginning of this Presidential campaign when I decided that I was going to take my first public stance in support of a candidate, I made the decision not to use my show as a platform for any of the candidates. I agree that Sarah Palin would be a fantastic interview, and I would love to have her on after the campaign is over."

For the record, Barack Obama has been on "Oprah" twice -- in January, 2005 and again in October, 2006 -- before he announced his run for Prez.

It's her show. She's free to make her own decisions, and her popularity suggests she's been right about her decisions. Here, she wants to keep her show away from her own political involvement.

If she sticks to her word, it's her show, and all's fair.

Because, with women or politics, everything is drama.

I find it funny that ABC News ran a story alleging that Oprah is biased. Of course she is biased.. she endorsed one of the candidates. This might be a story if she was having Obama on a few times before the election, but she endorsed him, had him on once, and has now taken the stance of someone stepping out of politics altogether. To say that she has any obligation to have Palin on (who isn't giving interviews anyways) is ridiculous.

Yup.

She has campaigned for BHO
She hates Rs

It's really not a big deal nor is it a surprise. It's her show. She can have any guest she wants. If she doesn't want SP then she doesn't have to have her on the show. It's that simple.

Chalk me up as another person who thinks this is a non-issue.

This is purely a Faux News issue, designed to raise controversy and prove the alleged liberal media conspiracy.

The fact of the matter is that Oprah has, and has always had, a policy against having candidates on her show. Hers is not a political show, she designed it that way on purpose and this model has worked extremely well for her. Palin's trying to force her way on Oprah's show-I guess the GOP thinks our constitutional freedoms apply only to them.

Shame on Faux News and the Palin campaign for trashing Oprah's hard earned reputation in order to bloster Palin's campaign. There are dozens and dozens of shows that are jumping at the chance to have Palin on, why not go with one or more of them? Of course, in a campaign where McCain blacklists creampuff interviewers such as Larry King, we should expect no less.

She doesn't pretend, as people at say Foxnews do, that she is an unbiased journalist. She can let whoever the hell she wants on her show.

You mean I won't get to see Woopie, Joy and Babawawa tear her a new one on The View?:(

Well, John McCain will be a guest on September 12th.

(The episode when Cindy co-hosted was very nice. Michelle Obama was just OK in my book.)

I doubt Sarah Palin would be allowed to do an interview on Oprah or any of the Sunday news shows until they feel she can handle a non scripted live interview, because Sarah Palin is no Hillary Clinton.

There will be plenty of time for the religious nut case dogcatcher from nowhere on TV if McSame wins and dies.

Palin represents a new, extreme level of political marketing that is almost astonishing. Not only are the "reformer" and "maverick" narratives around her flatly false, but the way she is being rolled out is even more exceedingly cynical and more redolent of product image management than Bush.

From the start, they have handled her in precisely as an instrument to inject zingers and soundbites into news cycles, and to carry identity and cultural narratives to the public. This is exactly how they will continue to use her. It is a game the media they absolutely love to play:

Palin utters a scripted, snarky line about a Democrat, and the media clips it in a neat package, plays it over and over again, and comments endlessly about its implications but mostly about how "effective" it is, without even discussing its meaning.

This is the result of a political campaign and a largely lazy media who have evolved together into a perfect host-parasite relationship. They better watch it though, Palin is a pop culture figure only, and the media loves to see them fall.
