It's not really the joke I find objectionable; it is kinda funny. It's the attitude of the OP towards the joke. He seems to actually believe the joke because he thinks Americans are somehow fundamentally better than the French. That's like saying white people are fundamentally better than black people. He just doesn't see that in real life, the American admiral's response doesn't have anything to do with the French admiral's question. The correct response is "Because English is the only language that we all know how to speak." or "Because four of us primarily speak English and only one of us primarily speaks French."
Cry more it was a joke.
I'm all for a good joke, but I don't think most people would find it very amusing if I told the joke about who's driving the car with the Mexican and the black guy in it.
Actually, maybe they would. I love these kind of jokes, but I think they work for me because people know I'm not some racist, nationalist asshole, I'm just making a joke. So it's funny, because it's based on a humerous stereotype that everybody knows I don't really buy. The exact same joke becomes a lot less funny when it comes from the mouth of someone who really believes that crap.
Edit: But maybe this is all some horrible misunderstanding, in which case, carry on
😉
