The exact same joke becomes a lot less funny when it comes from the mouth of someone who really believes that crap.

Exactly. For example, there's nothing worse than a racist joke told by a racist person. I would be angry for two reasons:

1) The joke might actually be funny but it'll be ruined for me by the racism of the person telling it.
2) I am looking at a racist asshole.
