I tried to search for this but found no useful answers, but I am sure it has been discussed before. But my question is why is there 17 s939 boards for sale on Newegg and 86 socket-T boards. It just doesn't seems right with the way AMD has held a performance lead for dam near a year now.

I would think the main reason is that Intel sells a *lot* more CPUs than AMD. Sure, AMD generally has better price/performance, and recently has had Intel beat in terms of gaming at the high-end -- but outside of computer enthusiasts, practically nobody knows who they are. There's a much bigger market for Intel CPUs and motherboards, and so there are a lot more companies making motherboards for them.

That was my first thought as well, but then I got thinking, none of the boards that are made for dell/emachine/hp get put on Newegg. I can see why a lot more Intel boards are sold in general (because of contracts a such), but I don't see why there are so many enthusiast boards out there.

For example the ASUS 925 premium, 915 premium, 915 deluxe, Gigabyte GA-8anxp-d, foxconn 925xe7aa, DFI LAN Party 925x-t2, Gigabyte due ....etc

Newegg sells 23 socket-T motherboards over 150 dollars; I can't see how those any of those are OEM boards. Anyway I was just wondering why Manufactures think they will make more money building Intel boards instead of AMD boards.
