Why shouldn't my son buy a PS3?

I've had a PS3 for about a year now, and I often ask myself why I still have a PS4 pre-ordered. There's a ton of great games on PS3 with more new releases still coming. On top of that the holiday sales should be awesome, and I suspect Sony is going to push the digital envelope with PS+ IGC games and deals this November onward for PS3. The PS4 won't have much to offer for a good year at least.

And yeah, that GTAV bundle is a pretty good deal.

The gta bundle really is worth it. Why buy a $199 system then the game for $60 when the bundle is only $10 more and has a 500gb drive. I say go for it, I'm keeping my ps3 til this time next year

I am ready to move on. I have had a ps3 since launch week and I love it still. However it is aging and I am prepared to drop it except for ultra street fighter 4 if it never makes it to the new systems.

If I never had a ps3 and didnt get to play all the games, I would pick one up sure. There are a ton of games out there for it and psn+ gives you lots of games to download and play for being a member. So while I don't see any games in the future that I think I will really have to buy, there are many past titles that are very much worth playing if you have not.

Since the PS3 has a lot of great games and the PS4 is not backwards compatible, I'd say go for it. Will take the PS4 at least a year to start building a decent library.

rake, nothing will be downloadable on ps4, ps4 can NOT run ps3 games. It wasn't the disc holding it back, its that it is 2 totally different processors.

What the ps4 plans to offer is streamable games. PC has had a service thats been doing this for a couple years now, the game is played on a server and you control/view it using a live stream over the internet. Its.. not the same as if you owned it but it is better then nothing.

One problem with buying such an item on ebay is you are likely not going to get a warranty with it because ebay receipts are generally (as in, unless its a new egg/amazon/gamestop chain store front) not accepted for warranty claims.

When you can play it now for less than $250 it makes more sense due to the number of titles on PS3. God of War, Last of Us etc. You'll even be able to play Watch Dogs and the new Assassin's Creed. Also, Batman Arkham Origins has not been announced for PS4 either.

It makes more sense than spending $400 on a PS4 and waiting and hoping GTA5 comes to it. It probably will but...yeah we can't necessarily make recommendations on unannounced games.

Its brand new and its a super slim I highly doubt anyone would have issues with it. They go off the mfg date on the system too and its a GTA V bundle which just came out so you should have the same warranty thru Sony like you bought it at the store

It's a legit ebay store with 287,000 some odd positives. It's not an individual seller.

It appears they sold out though.

360 is supposed to have some huge price drops shortly, Sony will follow in some way is my guess. You are at least a year away from some great Ps4 games, maybe more.. so a PS3 right now isn't to bad an idea depending on cash flow. You may want to wait a short bit.. I cant see either MS or SONY dropping prices much on new system launch.. why would you? they want you buying the NEW one not the old one.. so any price cuts will be soon.

I think the current gen consoles will stay in production for a few years into the next gen life cycle. I know MS had rumored a cheap Xbox 360 to go along with your Xbox One, but I don't think it was official announced. I suspect, we'll probably see a $150 Xbox and PS3 around mid next year.

What are you talking about? A year until you get good ps4 games? There are lots of good games on launch day for both the xb1 and ps4.

That doesn't mean it is for everyone. As I said before, I have played everything and after gta5 I am done but there are many who have not played the great games yet. For them it is a fantastic time to buy IMO. Lots of games are cheap now. Can get a nice library for not a lot of money.
