I used to be an avid fan of VLC but ever since they upgraded it to v2, I found it very baggy and laggy in playing videos so I switched to the Sharky007 Win7codecs/x64 components/Sharky PreConfigured MPC-HC

Videos have never been better after my setup

You can try GoM player or KMPlayer (ppl used complain about this one not complying with licenses, not sure now).

MPC-HC with LAV filters here.

I'd throw in madVR renderer too but EVR:CP works fine for most people

I have made the strangest discovery yesterday.
As noted, my vlc did not play 3gp video anymore but did play the audio content of the video on some occasions . But this was the case with the crossover leopard skin. When i chose the default skin again, vlc played my 3gp recordings fine : I had audio and video.
It seems the skin affects the video player ?
Anyone knows why this might be the case ?
I will be updating to 2.0.1 today.

My stupid ipoop automatically updated its vlcremote app, so that forced me to update my desktop's vlc. It took a bit to get it working, but at least it is working. I havent even bothered trying to play more exotic files.

Since i have the default skin on vlc :

Everything works again...
I am happy.
I just updated to 2.0.1

This is the skin that causes with me to fail on 3gp video :

I do not understand why ?
Anybody have a clue ?
I cannot imagine why a skin should limit the playback capabilities of a media player. Except for it being a bug. Or a practical joke.

Because there is a universal truth (@ least in my opinion) EVERYTHING GETS UGLIER AND WORSE!!!!!! (They cant leave good alone, they gotta UPDATE it and end up messing it up (Even though THEY THINK ITS BETTER))

I have v0.7 of VLC and 3gp plays fine in mine thankfully

Newer IS NOT better! (Most of the time)

Well, it is true that newer does not automatically mean it is better.
But i did found the issue with VLC 2.0.0. And although i have upgraded towards VLC 2.0.1 , i found out the issue is that the crossover leopard skin prevents 3gp video playback and occasionally audio playback. After choosing the default skin, vlc works as i am used too. It just works.
