I was expecting a second place finish, but the final results were rather disappointing. It's a shame he couldn't do better with all the support he's had. It'll be a bit depressing knowing I'm placing my vote into a candidate that won't make it past the primaries, but at least I'm still doing what I believe in.

One of the RonPaulbots I have a couple of classes with tried to give me a Ron Paul flyer at school today...I just looked at it...then at him...and told him, "really dude, hasn't the kool-aide worn off YET?" This happened in front of several instructors and other students...he hung his head and slinked away...poor guy, I think that in spite of my insistence that I considered Ron Paul to be Ross Perot v.2 and unelectable, he actually thought he was going to convert me...just because I have long hair and LOOK like a hippie...<tsk-tsk>

nope...just realistic...something the Ron Paul fanatics don't seem to be. RP has some decent ideas, but in this corporate-owned world, he's not ever gonna be elected President. It's just a pipe dream shared by a deluded few.

Well at least we see how you feel about politics. Make sure to choose the candidate that's most electable, not the one with the best message.

People like you make me cringe for America. You're the kind of person that makes politics a popularity contest.

edit: and before you misquote me.. what I'm trying to say is you shouldn't vote for who you think will win, but based on which ideas would be best suited for this country.

Not really, but if you see it that way, that's fine. Hey, maybe next election cycle, youse guys can get Mickey Mouse to run...people like you seem to have no grounding in reality, it should fly well for ya.
ANY politician has to be electable or it's a waste of time and money. WHY pump millions of $$$ into the campaign of a person that isn't electable? It makes everyone involved appear to be...lunatics...or deluded...or...well, almost anything but reasonable.

Unlike you I know what I stand for. There's no need to ridicule you. You've already shown your character.

The person, Ron Paul, is already the only GOP I can stomach respect for. Not only does he embody integrity, honesty, and decency, but his message is agreeable as well. It doesn't take a scholar to understand why the pursuit the life, liberty, and happiness (without hindering another person from doing so) is a good thing for everyone.

Even if my candidate doesn't win at least I know I donated whatever I could in hopes that someone else will hear the message and maybe feel the same inspiration for freedom that I feel. And it makes me feel damn proud that I stood up for what I believed in.

I hope your candidate makes you feel the same way mine has.

So all the anti Ron Paul folks beat their chests and say you won and Ron Paul lost. Acting like this is some sort of sports game, and the big game has already come and gone, and Ron Paul just couldn't score against the opposite team.

When in fact the Ron Paul message is just about Ron Paul and its not about the past or the present but RATHER THE FUTURE. And the future course of America.

Need I remind you Ron Paul warned us about going into an Iraqi quagmire.

But GWB won the day on that Iraq war issue. Tell me again how America won on that issue
by shouting that voice down.

But in my case, I don't drink of Ron Paul totally. But I am willing to say parts of what he is saying is worth adopting and other parts are not.

Ron Paul isn't going anywhere either and neither are his supporters. In fact even if he loses and drops out you people will continue to hear his name echoing through the halls.
If you're waiting for us to go away then you'll have to wait until hell freezes over. We've been here longer then you and we're not going anywhere.

You are right, of course. Too many people see elections as a sports game. Except sports don't matter (at all) and elections do, but in a country where the average person spends far more time learning and reading about sports than politics, it's natural to take their sports paradigm and run politics through it, so they are unable to separate the two; they see their side as winning and the other as "losing", as if the end result is nothing beyond that, whereas in your example of Iraq the republicans won the election and we've all lost because of it. But to many of them it doesn't matter. Fvck them. This really is not a game.

Yes, we are going to here his name followed by laughter for years. Like "Remember how Paul is hosting a fund-raiser on the MLK's birthday when he previously called MLK a pedophile?" I'll really, really miss the entertainment value the Paul campaign and Paul supporters have brought me over the last 6 months.

I'm confused, my join date is in 1999, your join date is 2004. How is it that you've been here longer than me?

Ron Paul just has too many radical ideas and he wanted to implement all of them at once. If acutally elected nobody knows which ones (if any) he could actually get pushed throughand without knowing that, then they have no idea of what would happen. That's not good.

To me it looked like he was just floating any and all the ideas that might garner him support, but it backfired on him.

That's why he isn't even doing as well as Ross Perot did.

No, what is radical is thinking that this country is going to be "just fine" while the federal government continues to spend entirely too much money and that this problem will just go away. When in actuality, the children of this country, and some of us young adults, might see the end of the country as we know it. That's a radical idea IMO.

Now that's why he isn't doing as well as Perot!

Wait a minute, a short, independent minded Texan with a penchant for failed presidential bids with the initials RP....has anyone actually seen Perot lately?

There are a number of reasons why he isn't doing well. Lack of name recognition, lack of billions of dollars, defamation via Fox News, I could go on. Doesn't matter anymore.

I'm not here to advocate he's going win, don't kid yourself. Face it, our country is going broke and fast, and no one that has a possibility of being president will put us in a position to solve that problem. It's going to hit, and hit hard. If you don't like the truth, I'm sorry.

This isn't a conspiracy theory, this is our government's top accountant.

We have moved so far away from the constitution and our founders' ideas of the federal government and we are about to face the results of that.

Ross Perot supporters said the same thing, and his name "echoed through the halls" for about six months past the election... at the most. I should know, I was one of them.

Now, if there is anything that reverberates through the halls long after RP's exit from the race, I hope it's the gist of his message, and not his name. I hope some of his ideals, and some of his ideas, outlive his candidacy.

If any of you RPbots are smart, you'll start a party in his honor, that is guided by his ideas and ideals; and, you'll present a candidate from that party at every future election (such as those from the Green and Libertarian parties).

Otherwise, as with Ross Perot, his name, ideals, and ideas, will ALL be lost by the time we watch the Superbowl in 2009...

Good luck with that!

And you think that can happen again, and again, and again, and again, etc.? Because that's what it would really take. And it took A LOT for that to happen, i.e., Windows, the Pentium I, and the birth of the internet.

If you think we'll see a continuous steam of that one event you're fooling yourself. If you think our federal government can continue to be as big as it is, and spend as much as it does, you're fooling yourself.
