There are a ton of reasons why he will lose (and he will);

- No youth vote worth mentioning.
- Hardly excites anyone, promising nothing.
- Romneycare
- Mormon
- Taxes
- He comes if as a complete asshole
- He is a moderate
- He has flip flopped on everything that has ever came out if his mouth multiple times
- ACA was pretty much upheld
- Teaparty could really careless
- Liberty movement is 100% against him
- Santorum flat out said he is the worst Conservative in history
- Bain
- He was hand walked through the primaries even after getting hammered by no names.

I am a conservative too so I find this hilarious that a select few figure heads in the GOP are fighting to stay relevant.

IMO, they are slightly more important than how much money a man has and where that make electronically stores it. I really care little about either. A man can be of average intellect, but if he surrounds himself with wise men then he can be great.

The point is that it is wrong to be attacking Romney for not releasing every bit of info someone desires to see while not caring that Obama does the same thing.

I think transparency should certainly be the goal in general, though I don't recall the public ever clamoring for college transcripts with any other political candidate or office holder with anything like the hunger some have for the Obama records. Based on the way the President handled the birth certificate issue, it appears to me the President finds it advantageous to let the extremists among his opposition spin their wheels on things like his BC and college transcripts, since he can defuse these issues at any time, at will.

I don't personally think it's sinister for Mitt Romney to have offshore accounts, but to the extent he actively hides that information I suspect it won't go well for him. I understand the Republican view that we should tax the rich as little as possible, but there is still a large percentage of the country (including many rich people) that believes the wealthy should be assessed taxes at a pro rata share as high or higher than poor or middle-class people. If, as seems likely, he did this for tax reasons and has paid very little in taxes on the money, I think it's a legitimate topic of discussion because it perfectly illustrates an important difference in the candidates' positions on a significant issue. You may not like Paul Krugman (I am ambivalent myself), but his piece does a nice job illustrating the differences between Mitt and his father in such matters.

If you seriously think a candidate's college transcripts are more important than his financial records, I have to respectfully disagree. Honestly, what is the smoking gun people expect to find? Is it that President Obama wrote some kind of Communist/Muslim screed, or cheated on a test as an undergrad? I find it hard to imagine what could possibly be in his college transcripts that would have any importance whatsoever since, as I said before, he is so obviously a smart man.

If what you say is true, Obama would have offered Romney a high ranking position in his administration. Since Obama did not, we can assume Romney is not doing any tax evasion.

That's like comparing a kid shoplifting a pack of gum to Bernie Madolf.

The only reason I'm going to vote for Romney is that exact reason: He's not Obama. I'd rather have an unlikable asshole in the Whitehouse that respects the constitution than a socialist dictator. It's really that simple.

Of course he is, for implementing a health care program which is significantly less "socialist" than the one advanced by Richard Nixon.

... based on a plan implemented by the very guy this brilliant analyst wants to vote for instead of Obama. :)

And he's so sure that Romney "respects the Constitution" -- even though Romney told Obama to implement his plan at the national level.

People like these are not the ones that matter in this election. Their votes were predetermined years ago and not based on anything approaching rationality. The ones that matter are those in the middle.. the ones that didn't decide to hate Obama before he even stepped foot in the White House. And that's where Romney has a real problem.

those bringing up Romneys money are idiotic. that should not have anything to do with it. it's his money and where he keeps it or spends it is none of my concern and talking to people around here (northern IL farming area) they don't care about it either. long as he is paying the tax he should be they don't give a fuck (but i seem to recall that is a issue. is he paying the tax?)

Romeney is NOT going to get elected for other things.

a) the guy comes off as a idiot.

B) his reputation on out sourcing is bad. MANY around here hate him for that. They don't give a shit if he is a Republican. Shipping jobs out of the US pisses them off

C) not in touch with middle america. now not saying Obama is either but he is better then Romney

I don't see him winning. or heck it being close. only those hardcore GOP i have talked to will vote for him.

Romney doesn't give a shit about the Constitution, unless it's a talking point, no leader in the GOP (or Democrats for that matter) does.

Don't get me wrong here guys, I agree with some of the things Obama has been trying to do, just not the way in which he's been going about it. . . executive orders to IGNORE federal law? Protecting Eric Holder? Inciting class warfare? It's all political with him.

You think Obama is more in touch with the middle class? Comes down to Obama had his 4 years, did nothing with it, and now it's time to move on. He's only going to become more radical with no fear of losing another election.

Slightly more important, but still not important. I am more concerned with his actions as president/office held before being president (for those not yet president). Having off shore accounts simply means Romney is smart.

What smoking gun do people expect to find in Romney's accounts? That he is secretly funding Al Quida? Neither one will show anything other than what we already know. Obama went to school and got grades and Romney went into business and got money.

The point is that it is wrong to be attacking Romney for not releasing every bit of info someone desires to see while not caring that Obama does not release every bit of info someone desires to see.

True, Romney is not committing any tax evasion, so he nothing like the guys Obama tapped for his administration. Thanks for clearing it up.

Obama isn't a socialist.

He is a pinko, commie, socialist, elitist, nazi, blank panther loving, black, i love you.

Did I miss any? I was really trying to get them all in. :)

(no offense intended to any of the aforementioned groups for implying Obama is sullying the group in which I placed him - this was all in jest)

Democrats are somehow thinking that they're "right" because the Supreme Court upheld aca. . . . being constitutional and what the people want/best for the country are two completely different things . . . .

http://www.care2.com/causes/a-99-white-party-is-bad-for-republicans-and-for-america.html

Oh and good article here on why good conservative ideas in the GOP are unfortunately still beholden to fringe nutbags who provide support in more than just fringe numbers. Leaving the GOP in bad shape demographically. We may see another multi-decade run of Democrat control of Congress the way we did in much of the 2nd half of the 20th century as a result of these demographics and the inevitable surge in popularity of ACA and its future derivatives. Dems will literally have years of votes and footage of anti-ACA rhetoric to run on for a generation.

As it stands right now at this moment, Romney will be shellacked almost as badly as McCain was in 2008. And this is going to last a lifetime too; when the ACA is inevitably as popular as SS and Medicare, and people see the economy start booming again in 2013, they won't be looking fondly upon Romney or the GOP "ideas".

Well if no one else does the insurance companies will definitely love it. Stupid liberals. "Grrrr insurance companies are the evil!!!!", "Yea what a great law, creating millions of new customers for the insurance companies!!!"

Hey stop!!!! Remember it's a fee, not a tax, i mean it's a revenue enhancer, no a penalty, wait a tax!

Can anyone explain where Obama picked $250k from for his "rich" threshold? Why not 388k and index it to the top 1%?

His number was a random one he selected. He changed it a few times before finally settling on 250k as his final answer. As soon as he was elected, he made it his main goal to create a tax increase for everyone who makes less than that amount (via the ACA).

I don't get it. Don't all Americans have offshore bank accounts?

Mitt, totally connects with the average American.

Are saying 250k is not rich? It's only more than 4 times what I make and I don't consider myself poor by any stretch. I know if I made 250k /year I sure as hell would feel rich.

That is more money than 99 percent of P&N will ever make in there lifetime in a year.
