Why Record My Desktop can't work with ATI cards

Record My Desktop has always had problem with ATI cards. Seems like very complicated problem to solve. But what makes ATI cards so slow for Record My Desktop compared to Nvidia or Intel int graphics chipsets.

I know that many Linux users (= ATI owners) have this serious problem. But some years it's stayed unsolved.

Is it licence problem with ATI.
