so this morning i loaded up the PC version of Skyrim. (played ps3 version last nite for a short bit. just got to first town after escaping dragon attack)
First was wondering why i had to go thru Steam to play the game(i bot the game on Direct 2 Drive) but got it running and up to just b4 the dragon attacks.(had to quit and go to work) And from what i have seen so far, ps3/pc looks the same.

What i am amazed at is that the ps3 version can look so good considering the hardware. If i read the ps3 stats correctly, just my video card has twice as much ram as the whole ps3 does. And thats not including the 8gig of system ram.

so that is one reason decided to get a ps3. Games arent made for >just< pc these days and have settings that take advantage of the pc processing power.
But it looks like the pc version is a crappy console port.

It looks horrible on the xbox. I have skyrim on both pc and xbox with 60 inch plasma and they are completely opposite graphics and almost unplayable on the xbox, actually it is since I have the option to play it on the PC.

i would say just because it can have MMORPG games on it. couldn't really see a world of gaming where this sort of games aren't available

...up until all the graphical update mods start rolling out, as they did with Oblivion and Morrowind, and blow the console versions out of the water. Again.

sorry but the game on ultra with a 30" monitor blows away any console version of skyrim. even without mods.

So tried to play the pc version but came across a deal breaker for me. Unless i am missing it somewhere but you cant remap keys? i have to change the wsad to the arrow keys. wsad is ok if one is right handed but i use left hand to control trackball and need to use arrow keys with right hand. And i am not going to spend another 40+bux to get an xbox controller just to play this game.

There are some games that really highlight the differences between a modern video card and DX11 and a 5-6 year old game system. Unfortunately, Skyrim isn't one of those going by the release version. Games like Witcher 2, Crysis 2 and BF3 show the difference. Unfortunately, it's the development towards the low common denominator (PS3/Xbox) that is driving games right now. I know it pisses me off when I drop money on a GTX580 and games look like crap. (Regardless, once I got over the controls, I'm having fun with Skyrim which is the important part.)

There are many things that makes a Pc game better than gaming console.Like PC games are more cost effective than gaming consoles, that’s why it is more easier for a number of persons to buy pc games. And one more thing is that hardware of a PC can be upgraded acording to the requriment of the game.So pc games are best as compare to gaming console.

Honestly, I personally think that as graphic power increases, gameplay decreases. For an example I site Neverwinter nightss vs BG2.

Same here with strategy games. I don't care if consoles are better for this or that, kb+mouse vs controller, resolution vs large screen etc. There are virtually no RTS games and absolutely no grand strategy games on consoles so that doesn't matter; I need a PC for the games I want to play, end of story. If someone else prefer consoles good for them though, it's just not for me.

I do realize that there is a valid argument that as "everyone" goes to consoles there is a fear we could see a decline in PC games, but I'm not sure whether or not this is the case. I believe there will always be someone to fill any niche where there are people standing around ready to give their money away. (see Paradox..)

A proper PC is quite the investment, but I've found it to be well worth it since my last build. I haven't much touched my 360 or PS3 if I had a PC version. PC software price alone has been the greatest perk.

Not really.

Sorry, but even though SOME PC games give a noticeable jump in graphic prowess, it is NOT anywhere NEAR the visual upgrade that the price difference of my rig and my Xbox 360 should buy me. Cost effective my back side - I could have bought ~6 xboxes for the cost of my gaming rig. If a Xbox costs ~250 (taking into account holiday deals right now, this is a good middle of the road), I am certainly not seeing ~$1000 worth of graphical improvement. For that kind of money, I want to see Xbox to Xbox 360 graphics jump. And its just not there.
