Recently, I've noticed a trend on ebay where people are paying more than face value for gift cards. I just posted a $50 Gas gift card today and the bids are over $50 already. What am I missing? Are these cards collectibles or made of space grade plastic? Someone please shed some light on this matter for me.

Someone did say to me perhaps they're scamming me. Once the buyer receives the gift card in the mail they could claim Unauthorized Payment and get a refund while I'm left without my gift card back.

The top bidder has nearly 600 feedbacks with no negatives the past 12 months. He has history of buying gift cards over face value with all positive feedbacks. He's been a member since 2002.

He could just as easily buy the card from the store at face value. I don't get it.

There's the off chance they want to use them to pay for something only available in the US via a US payment method when they are oversees. But that would apply to things only like iTunes gift cards, or PSN, MSN points I think.

But yea, Scams!
