Why our youth is worse every generation

The answer is an easy one. We teach our kids to act in ways that we do not act ourselves. We say, "Do not steal. Do not harm others. Do not lie". Then they see us watching the news and all the things we say not to do, our nation does to other nations of people and adults treat adults in ways we say they shouldn't.
We are hypocritical in the extreme. This is psychotic, almost schizophrenic behavior and it gets worse as time goes on, with each generation. We tell our youth to be good, but just a quick look around shows them that adult behaviors don't match up with what we say.
Its confusing for them. If they are debating whether or not to do something bad, the choice to go the wrong way is easier when they can see they are not an outcast if they do bad.

The world needs honest parents, who have honor, keep their word, practice what they preach and do what they say they will do. Then, our children will have that shine in their eye and a bright future.

That means you're the worst person in several generations of humanity. You should be ashamed of yourself!

No, it is cause generations keep getting lazier and more entitled. People are too lazy to discipline/teach their children.

Then why is crime % SUBSTANTIALLY down (and at it's lowest) from 10 years ago?

Kids aren't getting worse, they are just getting more socially inept as well as borderline mentally retarded. You're no where close to solving the problems broceritops.

Much more closer to the answer.

Has anyone ever said "Hey, those kids are much better then we were!" ? No.

Also, even the "greatest" generation had it's flaws. Rampant institutionalized racism. Rampant violence. Rampant sexism.

But hey, if you were a middle aged educated white guy in the 40's and 50's, life was good!

Or maybe it's human nature to see younger generations as inept.

"Oh noes, people younger than myself aren't as mature and wise as I am, surely this is indicative of societal decline and not normal personal development." Said every cane weilding coot ever.

They are worse because our society (media, Hollywood, corps, government) keeps feeding them more BS than ever before.

They also provided us with tools/devices that makes it SUPER easy.

Because there is simply WAY more crap to cover/hide from people then ever before and the list keeps on growing!

Our youth gets worse every generation because less is expected of them every generation and they will always live down to that.

Your logic is flawed and your response is incorrect as a result. If kids saw adults doing the things that adults say are good, then kids would not feel confused and they would do good, because they would see people doing good.
If something makes a particular sound but its actions are of a different nature, then any emulation of that thing will be confused in nature, and human primal instincts will go into automatic override mode and fear based behavior will reign supreme in the child, as it does in most adults.

As the older generation has ranted on for the last three thousand years, only remembering their own youth through rose colored glasses.

yeah same old shit

The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties at the table, cross their legs, and tyrannize their teachers.

Well lets see. Every generation before them has either caused or demanded the removal of any fun or risk from their lives. Drug use, smoking, drinking, ect are all down at historic levels for todays kids. We toss electronics at them and cram homework down their throats and don't give them any opportunity to be kids. Kids can't make mistakes and learn hard lessons on their own any more. We've made a padded path for them their whole lives until they are shit out of college with a piece of paper that was explained to them from the start of their educational career that would get them a real job.

And then we wonder why they can't cope with reality when they hit 25.

Youth are always poorly behaved because, by definition, they haven't grown up yet.

http://www.bartleby.com/73/195.html said:
Attributed to SOCRATES by Plato, according to William L. Patty and Louise S. Johnson, Personality and Adjustment, p. 277 (1953).

This passage was very popular in the 1960s and its essence was used by the Mayor of Amsterdam, Gijsbert van Hall, following a street demonstration in 1966, as reported by The New York Times, April 3, 1966, p. 16.

This use prompted Malcolm S. Forbes to write an editorial on youth.—Forbes, April 15, 1966, p. 11. In that same issue, under the heading “Side Lines,” pp. 5–6, is a summary of the efforts of researchers and scholars to confirm the wording of Socrates, or Plato, but without success. Evidently, the quotation is spurious.

What's the magic word for threads like these? I know it's on the tip of your tongue. Pennzoil? No, that's not it. Penicillin? Getting closer.

Every single generation thinks the generation after them is the worst thing ever, and that life as we know it will come crashing to a halt. Well... the generation bitching is the generation that raised them, so what the fuck happened? Oh right, it's always the OTHER people that don't know how to raise their kids and are causing the problem.

Are they really though? I'm curious to see how history will remember the boomers. I'm apparently barely in Gen Y and I think we're doing okay.

The baby boomers are already portrayed negatively historically.

Well... the generation bitching is the generation that raised them, so what the fuck happened? Every single generation thinks the generation before it is just picking on it and will dismiss out of hand any criticism no matter how valid and no matter how much evidence there is to support the idea that kids are monumental fuck-ups. And yeah, parents are to blame, but the parents are part of the same cycle. It's considered enlightened to want your kids to have things better than you had things yourself, so every generation eases expectations.

It wasn't that long ago that kids were expected to go to school and work and be obedient and be respectful and be clean and quiet and etc etc etc. Well of course the idea of kids working is the product of a poor society, so as America prospered that idea fell by the wayside and good riddance to it. But kids were still expected to go to school and LEARN, and be obedient, respect their elders, keep their rooms clean and do chores, etc etc etc and working could wait until they were in their teens and needed to learn some self-reliance to prepare for the world. And then a generation later obedience and respect got wiped away because it was considered progressive that kids are individuals and that learning and working hard to prepare for adulthood were the really important things. And then a generation later learning was considered too onerous and a truly enlightened society would take care of everyone no matter how stupid and lazy they were, so classes were dumbed down and grades artificially raised so that no kids would feel left behind. It was no longed important to learn, just like in Little League kids were given a trophy just for participating in school. And then it was discovered that nobody really needed jobs, they just needed a degree and everything would fall into place for them as soon as they had a magical piece of paper in hand that shows they're marginally capable of doing an entry level job that kids had in high school a couple of generations earlier.

Honestly, what is expected of kids today? Parents don't parent, discipline is considered brutality, punishment is considered barbaric, failure won't be allowed because it's clearly society's fault, school is only a place to go to get fed, jobs are for the suckers who are not getting paid by mommy and daddy (or the government) to not work and it's all okay because each generation has to accomplish less, try less, care less than the generation before it and that's a sign that things are getting better because each generation of kids has things better than their parents and by better it means they have fewer of those pesky rules and expectations to deal with.

My kid asked for potato chips & halloween candy when he woke up :D

None of this shit matters. The problem happens when you tell them to keep their hands to themselves at school, and then they see a newspaper or hear something on the radio about thousands of people being slaughtered in Syria. You can only lie to them about the world for so long. They will one day realize they were lied to, and then the confusion sets in.

You cannot raise the children of yesterday in the world of today. The world of today is no place for a child to be raised, and it will get much worse before it gets better.

See how this works? People will not stop having kids. Population will increase and so will the perils each generation will face. People will clash, the walls of the cocoon will stretch and tighten, until finally, it bursts open and a new humanity will emerge. Humanity+, or humanity 2.0, call it what you will, but our children are doomed until then. We are the necessary sacrifice to be offered on the alter of post singularity earth. The birth pangs are barely starting. Critical mass is a little ways off yet, and there is no stopping it. No way out. Your children must endure the suffering!
