Why on Earth are my 3DMark2001 scores so low?

What videocard drivers?

my guess would be:

intel pentium 4 at 1.791GHZ with a 100mhz FSB
512MB of ram
and a msi motherboard

and he is using: (Omega 2.6.25a) drivers.

I think in your case its the rest of that system. Is that a i845 sdram board with a willamete core? That CPU probably cannot feed your video card enough data to process with that horribly bottlenecked memory bus if thats the case.

My Pentium III 666 with a Ti4200 gives me ~5000 in 3Dmark2001. I bet you enabled AA or AF in the drivers.

that is sad.

anyway, OP, i think ak1anas is right, you're terribly hamstrung by that system. still it does seem pretty low. what are your games running like? it's not that this is a new system, did you just now decide to bench it? if your games are fine then screw the benches, you won't be stting world records ;)

benched
i dunno, it doesn't show '01, but seems like you're in line depending on your settings and such. its all pretty old tech. try running 03 and see what you get.

woah dude...before u start crying and blaming ur video card look at the rest of ur system!! u got sdram which is SERIOUSLY slowing down ur performance and a 1.7Ghz processor. put that same video card in a system with 2.5ghz+ or 3ghz with pc3200 and ull then c how much more powerful ur card is

its not the video card....its your system. i think a 1.7Ghz P4 (willi core?) with a 100mhz fsb and 512 ram (type? RD? DDR? SDR?) is the cause. your system is holding your 9600 back

3dmark 01 is a system benchmark. the score depends on cpu speed, memory bandwith etc etc. 03 and 05 are more graphics only benches.

my old AXP2000 +9500pro just to say cracked 10,000
i put the same card in a 2.4Ghz P4 (northwood) with 768Mb of RDRAM PC800. and my score is now 12,000.

you need to upgrade that system some if u want it to be better

I would definitely have to agree that the problem is with the rest of your system. I have a Barton 2600+ running at 2.2Ghz with a GeForce 4 MX 440 (yes it's ancient, but it does the job for what I need) and I get 6600-6700 in 3DMark 2001 SE...

Is this your box? If so, it uses DDR ram, not sdr. If that celeron has 128kb cache (i think it does - check with cpuz) then you would benefit greatly by dropping a northwood with 512kb cache - the highest clock speed that would work in your system is the 3.06ghz northwood 533mhz fsb.

I remember when i had a celeron 128kb 2ghz and upgrading to a 2.26ghz full fledged 512kb cache p4 my scores almost doubled in £Dmark2001.

If you have some spare cash, and would like the improved performance, i would do go to ebay and search for one of the following processors: -

2.26ghz pentium 4 ; 2.53ghz pentium 4; 3.06 pentium 4.

Drop it in, and your performance should skyrocket!

Goodluck..

2001 ----> cpu dependent

go compare your scores to people with similar processors, i'm sure they have about the same score regardless of video card.

I'd also say it's the rest of your system,... I get 14700 with my 9600 and Barton XP @ 2.2

That score sounds right......

Willy wasnt exactly intels best core.

9600P is slower than the 9500p.

Wrong, he is running a 3.0 P4, HELLO

If he put an A64 in there, he would get 22K-24K stock.

In 01 CPU plays a good role.
