Hi.

I used to have an old Compaq Presario which had a P2 266 MHz. I had been useing that thing for quite some time. I used to do a lot of upgrades and all that. However, one day, I opened up the case to retrieve a stick of ram from the thing. After closing the case and connecting it back to all the components, it decided not to work for some reason. When I started the computer, the hard drive did nothing, but sometimes it seemed to be active for a while or two, very little time to actually load something. But, on the monitor, it just showed nothing, as if it was sending no signal to the monitor, the monitor light was flashing, indicating that its almost as if nothing is connected to it, and theres nothing on the screen, like no signal being recieved form the PC to the monitor. I tried several things but could not fix the problem.

What do you think?

You need to check the light on the front of the PC, if its orange, you have a problem. If its green, you have a different problem. The first step would be to remove all unnecessary components, reseat the rest, and see if you get the "no memory" beep code. Also, removing the cmos battery couldnt hurt either.

Check the monitor's plug for bent pins, and ensure that you got the mouse and keyboard plugged into the correct ports (they are specific). If that doesn't help, try putting the RAM back in and see if it makes a difference.
