Why oh why has severance blade of darkness not been remade/sequeled?

Seriously, one of my favorite games of all time. Codemasters needs to stray off its formula of making incredibly buggy and un-fun war simulators and back into the world of third person combat.

Agreed. BOD was one of the best games ever made. There are quite a few mods out there, in fact, I think one or two are still being worked on. If I can dig up the site I used to visit i'll let you know.

Rebel Act was the developer, not Codemasters.

I just replayed Blade Of Darkness about 6 months ago, and I think I loved it every bit as much today as I did the first time through so many years ago. All the 3rd person combat games out now are just button mashers, and they simply bore me to tears. If Batman Arkham Asylum had a combat system similar to Blade Of Darkness, I might agree with all the reviews about how amazing it is, I think it's mindless repulsion as it stands now however.

There was a Blade Of Darkness sequel in the works for a short while, but was cancelled, and I don't see that Rebel Act is running anymore unfortunately.

Yes, I feel the same way. I grabbed Batman AA on 360 because of all the hype but was pretty disappointed due mainly to how mindless the combat was. It's sad, but it seems that games with combat systems like BOD are a very rare breed anymore. However, Demon Souls for PS3 does come pretty close I must say. Either of you played that one yet?
