I need to buy a heatsink within the next day or two, so i need help deciding. This is for a Socket A Duron 650@1100 at the moment, but will hopefully be good enough to stay with me through my next CPU. I have narrowed it down to a few I like that look good, but I will take your opinions on any sink you think is good. Money is an issue, but not a very big one. If I do decide that the big switech is worth it, i can spend that much, but I don't want to if it's not worth it. The smaller switech looks good, and I can get it for 25.00 bare sink becuase it doesn't carry the switech name. I have only heard good things about the Taisol Copper bottom, and I already am using a Taisol CGK740 and it works great, running my duron at 28C pretty constantly. The Glacitor looks good so far, but thats only one review, has anyone tried it yet, is it as good as they say. Is it possible to change the fan if it dies, or are you screwed? What about the Thermoengine, they seem good in reviews, but if I remember correctly Mikewarrior said that is because it has the ability to lower the Thermistor temps with the way the air flows off it, so maybe it's not that good. What do you guys think. I would say I am leaning towards the Switech 370, Taisol, or the Glaciator.

Taisol Copper bottom
Switech MC370
Switech MC462
Glaciator
Thermoengine, what else am I leaving out.

I really need to decide soon.

:(

forget tomshardware review. it sux.

glaciator, if you can wait for it is the bargain of the century it costs the same as the swiftech 370 but performs better than the 462 according to overclockers.com review anyway.

Yeah I want another review of the Glaciator before I believe it. Is it me or did they say in the review that the black label delta produces like 70Dba, is that right? I just want a consensous on the subject of how great that cooler is.

As for the MC370, check out www.kdcomputers.com, they have a cooler called CPC 3003 or something like that selling for 25.00 bare heatsink. It's pretty certian that this is the same as the 370 only bought before switech could put there name on it and charge extra for it.

". Is it me or did they say in the review that the black label delta produces like 70Dba, is that right? I just want a consensous on the subject of how great that cooler is"

that's correct and this is what you get when measuring the db levels with a sound level meter at the distant they measured it at.

overclockers.com is actually known to be one of the better if not one of the best site for cooling reviews. of course it wouldn't hurt to wait for another review or even wait unitl some people on this board to get ahold of this cooler.

I suggest the Taisol Copper bottom for it's good performance using the stock fan and excellent clip design.

I just want the best cooling for the money. I know the taisol is good, but it seems as though all the switechs are good if not better, plus that glaciator sounds liek it may be better then all of them.

once u start running a tbird at 1.5+ ghz and 1.85 volts the swiftech 462 will start to make a lot of sense. I myself just ordered the millenium glaciator cooler and it came in at 46 dollar shipped to california.
