HI! I am reading lots of people set their pci-express to 105mhz or even more using an ati video card like the x1900, I'd like to know why they do that and if it is recommended as I read or if it is an ufficial Ati suggestion. Thanxs!

The PCI-eXpress bus runs at 100hz. Basically in the BIOS you can set it highier.. just like OCing. Some people say increaing it can help performance. I would think it would only help in bus limited situations. I have no idea when these situation occur or even if they do. I would say it would be more important with CrossFired cards though.

It might, but I have never seen anything benchmarks to confirm what happens when ocing the pci-e bus. I generally dont mess with anything on the mobo though, so I couldnt answer what happens.

i went from x16 and x8 (using top slot on a8r-mvp) and only lost 50 3dmarks. so i doubt overclocking by 5% is going to do much.

I have a friend on Skype that has a 6800 Ultra agp. He overclocked his agp slot 4 MHZ and got anothe 5fps in quake 4

Exactly.

I have Dual 7900GT's in SLI and I doubt that mine ever get fully saturated.

I have a Dual x16 (SLI x16) so both slots get the full x16 bandwidth, but even if I did have a dual x8 board (x16 split in 2) They STILL wouldn't be saturated.
