Why not buy this gigabyte board? I have never seen this mentioned before. I will not be doing ANY overclocking, just look for a nice, stable board. My other choice is the Abi IC-7 max 2. What does the abit have over this, if I am not overclocking?

Thanks

EDIT: Not sure why it leads there. It is the GA-8IK1100 at newegg. If someone else could post a link would be appreciated

Okie-Dokie, here ha go:
Link to said board at da Egg.

As to why or why not, I'm not sure. That chipset is supposedly pretty good, but I'm far from an expert on Intel systems. I'm not a fan of gigabyte (for reliability reasons) but hopefully you will get some answers here. You might consider changing the title to reflect the actual name/model# of the board and asking for specific comments. Something like, "Any feedback from Gigabyte GA-8IK1100 users?" From thousands of users, I'll bet you get a few informative answers. Wanna place a bet? J/K

I have been using gigabyte boards for about 3 years now. This box has a gigabyte ga7vaxp ultra and has run like a champ, even overclocked. I've had a hint of trouble from the cheaper boards like the ga 7vac and the like but nothing major.

I'm currently running the 7n00 nforce 2 pro and it's stable. I haven't run the product with intel though. Ask around, read the reviews, make your decision. I think that AT users prefer ASUS over anything else, but that's just the ones that have posted stats on their boxes.

Cheers,

I have that board - one excellent bodacious motherbaord - IMHO.

And I have tried a lot of P4 I865 and I875 motherboards -

IMHO

My neighbor built a couple of systems with the 8IK1100 and he says they are very stable. He did say that the 6 mem slots are useless, you can only use all 6 slots if 4 mem sticks are single sided. Now that he has 1gb (4x256) in one rig the extra 2 slots are wasting space.
