Why not simply modify a freezer/refridgerator?

Well, why hasn't anyone (that I'm aware of) tried doing this? It sounds reasonable to me (although I have zilch in professional knowledge).

Because of the humidity. What happens when cold air hits warm things? Water is formed on the warm thing. Not very good for computer components.

You could fill it with CO2 or helium. That may solve the condensation problem, although then you'd have trouble using optical drives.

You could use both NO2 and helium and then you'd be laughing your arse off while yelling in a high voice "look at the sparks jumping around on my motherboard!" 😛
