Why not cool the sides of the CPU with a fan? (Diagram included)

Yeah, wouldnt it help to put a fan next to the cpu with a little funnel type manifold to funnel the air in and blow on the sides of the core?

To get airflow underneath just drill holes through the heatsink all the way through the bottom. Don't do it where the core touches the heatsink or it won't be as effective....

that would work in 2d, but looking at it in 3d, it would be takeing in most of the from the sides and not accually creating a current through the cpu-core, and trying to stuff things on the side to create the tunnel would not be wise!

and I dont think the temperture of the core/the exposed area/ strength of a current created by a cpu fan if you had a tunnel, wouldn'y make it a very effective cooling method
