The rules are so simple. Just profile people from certain areas and also people who travel to shitholes like Pakistan, Saudi and so on.

You would have an economical database on the possible troublemakers then.

This is called racial profiling, it can be applied to a variety of tasks (including counter-terrorism), it is considered by many to be immoral.

also people who travel to shitholes
Traveling frequently to hotbeds of terror, for non-business / governmental reasons, is a good way to end up on a watch list.

Right. We already do profile for people who travel frequently to places like that. My friend is a dual Iranian-American citizen and he went back to Iran to visit some family. While he was gone he paid a bill in the US that he had forgotten about, and his bank assets in the US were immediately frozen. It took him like 3 weeks to get it straightened out, but that shows quite clearly that they are watching.

We already have a thread on this topic. Why did Braznor feel the need to start a new one?

This is called racial profiling

No. Country of origin and race is not the same thing. There is a long history of scrutinizing travel to and from certain countries. And and as eskimospy already pointed out, the government is already monitoring these kinds of things.

Technically, you are correct, although the line does become a bit blurred when dealing with homogeneous societies / countries (unlike melting pots with diverse ethnic backgrounds).

In spirit, they are the same, as one cannot help the location of their birth anymore than they can pick their race. But, from an objective standpoint, statistically significant trends can emerge.
