Why no/so little praise for MS Intellimouse?

hello,

I was just wondering why I never see the MS Intellimouse mentioned much. I always see the Logitech MX510 mentioned or recommended, it must be a good mouse but It just looks like it might be uncomfortable to my ape fingers (KNUCKLE CLICKER?). I can't even see where the buttons are on it in pictures. I do need to try one out though.

Anyways to get to the point I think the MS Intellimouse is one of the the best, most well rounded optical mice ever made. It is a SOLID product and great for everything. Very good for gaming, awesome for surfing, and the mouse wheel and side buttons are awesome. Plus they are cheap now!

Thoughts?

The Logitechs last longer, pure and simple. I went thru 3 MS mice in the time I used 1 logitech mouse. The MS mice had button and wire problems, as you can see I went through 3 MS units before I learned my lesson. DuuuhhhH.

There are various intellimice. I like mine, it's big and fits the hand well. There is praise here - I did a search here before buying.

What are you doing using them for a hammer? I've had my MS Intellimouse since 2001 without a hiccup. Two friends have had them that long too with no problems. You guys must be rough on mice or something!

I will probably see if I can find a MX510 to feel it sometime, might still get one of those. But for right now the MS Intellmouse is the best mouse IMO, I won't feel bad about recommending it either. And it is less than 25 dollars

That has nothing to do with it, all other things being equal I'd rather use an MS mouse as opposed to a Logitech one simply because of software issues sometimes encountered using Logitech's mouseware. However all other things are not equal. The fact of the matter is the MS mice are now, and have been for quite sometime, trailing Razer and Logitech in the technological prowess of their mice. AFAIK the top MS mouse is still a 400dpi/cpi mouse, meanwhile Razer is pushing 1600.

I agree the MS mouse is a great mouse. I never really liked the MX series. I like the Razer but it is too damn expensive.

Not sure about the Intellimouse, I haven't used one since the old "ball" days, before it got all funky shaped. I have three MS Optical Wheel Mice that I use. Pretty much what the old Intellimouse used to be, excpet it's symetrical (for you lefties out there) and a heck of a lot cheaper. I think I paid a total of $15 or all three. One of 'em was free after rebate at Staples or Office Max a few months ago. Never a complaint.

Cable gets loose, wheels break, feet wear out.

I've had one cheap Logitech (not an MX) longer now than my three Intellimice.
So, Logitech > MS.

I'm using a cordless Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer 2.0 mouse. Standard AA batteries last me 5-6 months with min 5 hour usage per day.

"Add innovation and style to your desktop. This wireless optical mouse offers Tilt wheel technology and more than six months of battery life for greater productivity."- source: http://www.microsoft.com/hardw...ctdetails.aspx?pid=002

Logitech mice suck on batteries, they last only a few days.

Hey, I'm not a microsoft basher, I told it like I see it. I am a heavy on-line gamer and my stuff gets used big time. My MS mice wore out quicker than they should have in my estimation. I'm not going to tell another forum member a fib if he comes right out and asks for an opinion, are you ?
