why no power?!?!?!

i just bought a new linksys BEFSR41...i follow the instructions, low and behold i get no power. what is wrong?!?!?! dont tell me it is a faulty router....



 
So, you plug in the power cord, connect it to the external power brick, connect that to the router, and the power light doesn't come on? And the socket is definitely powered? Certainly sounds like something is defective.
