Why no GameBoy Advance multiplayer over the Net?

Admittedly, the biggest obstacle would be adapting the Link Cable to connect to conventional USB, but other than that, what holds someone back from creating an app that allows people to play via a network connection?

The demand

Technilogically there is nothing in the way, however buisness comes into play. The GBA is a portable system, it's designed to be fully self contained and is marketed as such. Connecting it upto a phone line defeats that purpose. Why spend big bucks on something that probably won't even break even?

point taken...

I'm not really peaking from Nintendo's business standpoint, but rather, simply a home-brewed software app similar to either GameSpy's Xbox Tunnel or the infamous Xbox Gateway.

More as a novelty and a way to get your Mario Kart GBA swerve on 😉 , with a matchmaking service much like the Warcraft III multiplay will have (random matchups).
