Why no E8500's yet?

The E8400's have been available for awhile now, yet no E8500's to be found and none of the retailers even have a solid ETA. We know it isn't a binning problem because everything seems to be hitting 4ghz easily, Intel could easily add the .5 multi to the current chips slap an E8500 label on it and make an $80 premium.

My only guess is that the first E8500's are going to box builders like Dell, Gateway, etc...

you guys have any better ideas?

Seldom will you see multiple new products released on the same day, it steals the marketing thunder from each other

Some examples
Canon or Nikon never releases two different model cameras on the same day
Car makers never release two new models on the same day
Seagate never release drives of the same series on the same day (ie 7200.11)

They may be announced for the 1st time on the same day but they are not "For Sale" on the same day

I'll buy a Q9450, or better in a few months. Whats your point GD? This happenes every time a new CPU is released, so what?...

I just wonder why Intel reversed strategy from Yorkfield to Wolfdale? With Yorkies they released the top of the line QX9650 first which seemed to make sense, so they could maximize demand for the high dollar part then follow up with the lower end parts.

Now they seem to have switched to the same strategy that nvidia has employed with G92 by introducing the lowend parts first?

by only offering lower speed cores at first, they can get people with money to uprade to them... and then when they finally offer the higher speed cores they will get the same people to upgrade again...

Just like how movie studios first release on theater, then on vhs, then DVD, then DVD with cut scenes and directors commentary and etc...
Or how a book ALWAYS comes out in paperback first, and THEN in hard cover.

It allows them to sell the same product over and over again.

My theory is that Intel called me up and asked for my permission. In my arrogance, I said hold off, any further questions?

i wish i could have afforded the 8500. a .5x multi would be nice tack on an extra 200-250mhz at this point.

Put $80 (4 x$20's) on your keyboard.

You will notice the those $20's heck of a lot more than you will 200mhz

thats the diff between an 8400 vs 8500

I don't understand why the big deal is about E8400s, I see Q9450s everywhere here, the local stores have a sick overstock..

I mean, I think one was offering them for $150 CAD after MIR just to get rid of it
