WHY no 16 GB on QVL list for Asus ...

Am considering a new computer build using the Asus P8Z68 Deluxe motherboard and was wanting 16 GB of memory for video and Photoshop work, but the official Asus QVL only shows 2 GB DIMMs in each of the 4 slots OR 4 GB DIMMs in each of only 2 slots -- NO qualified memory vendor listing for 4 GB DIMMs in all four slots.

Yet -- Corsair lists one Vengeance DDR3-1600 as qualified for 4 x 4GB and others have used RipJaw 4x 4 GB in 1155 and 1156 boards although G.Skill has no listing for the P8Z68 boards in their memory configurator.

What gives -- Why would Asus not list in their QVL any 16 GB memory using all four DIMM slots while Corsair DOES list one memory type that does use 4 DIMMs of 4 GB each for the total of 16 GB of memory and apparently builders use 16 GB of G. Skill DIMMs?

I am confused.

Thoughts/opinions ??

Thanks,

QVL listings tend to be rather lacking unfortunately...

Not sure you can do much other than gamble (usually you'll be fine), or get RAM others have already installed & posted about, etc, or use what your preferred RAM manufacturer has tested with.

Am curious as to what advantage there is in using 4x2 GB DDR3 G.Skill RipJaws vs. 2x4 GB DIMMs?? Thanks

In the past, price & availability as 4 GB DIMMs were very rare & not very good timings/frequencies, nevermind pricing.
Now i'd be getting 2x4 GB obviously.

My RAM is old; i've had it since my first P55 system.
