Within a 1 week period i had a 24x Lite-On lockup (light stayed on constantly, but bios and windows didn't see it), a 9.1 Seagate 10k Ultra 160 Cheetah go bad in my server, and a speaker for a set of Klipsch v2-400 start sounding blown.
I called Newegg, shipped mine back...they sent me a brand new black 48x Lite-On
Pretty nice upgrade from a 24x!!! Woot
I called Klipsch and they sent me back a set of brand new 4.1's!!! Nice upgrade again.
For Seagate, this is actually the 2nd HD i've had fail from them in 2 1/2 weeks. I had this one 9.1 as my OS HD for 3 years now (Warranty doesn't end till 2005, nice) Well if started clicking and i was able to save the few files i needed and yanked it for a backup 9.1 I had. Well after a few days i received the new one and i threw it in there and used my ghost image and was off and running. One week later the damn thing starts clicking!! I called them and told them that i received a remanufactured drive in place of my new one (which i knew i would) and that this HD was used in a Mission Critical Small Business server and we can't afford this amount of downtime and headachs ever week (yeah ok so it was BS, it's just my home server
) I told them i wanted to get a brand new one for replacement. The lady said she couldn't do that cause all she had for RMA's was remanufactured drives. I asked her to speak to a manager, but was very nice and just wanted to say the same thing to him/her. Well she went ahead and took my order and said she needed to put me on hold to go get a manager. I said sure thing. She comes back after like 4-5 minutes (seemed like a long time ..heh) and she said "Well the support manager agrees that it's unfortunate that you've had several drives die in the past two weeks. We're going to give you a brand new 18.2 Ultra 160 Cheetah for a replacement and hope this will help correct the situation. SWEET! It was all very nice and polite and they were really cool about it.
So i got an 18.2 Ultra 160 10k Cheetah for a nice little upgrade
I thought i had a really wacky week of bad luck, but i guess everything turned out in my advantage!!! 3 nice little upgrades for my machines and i didn't even have to spend a dime
I got the klipsch on Monday, got the 40x and the HD today. It's like Christmas in September!!
Happy Happy Joy Joy.
