Just got this
Athlon 64 3200+
Asus A8N-SLI combo...

when i was playing bf2, it suddenly turned off itself.
is it too hot.. everything is at stock speed.

Asus Probe shows it is 40C...
why is it and how do i disable it?
is it something to do with the "AMD Cool n' Quiet" driver?

Did it do this once, or has it done this many times? If only once, just write it off as one of those things. If it continues to shut itself off, then need to figure out is it always in BF2 or does it do that in other games or even while not playing games.

it happened again when i play BF2.

this time around 15 minutes.

i have turned on Asus probe, the latest temp was at 48C (cpu)

Had the same problem running my applications and when I changed my PSU (Enermax 535W) my problems ended. Strange......

Sounds like a heat issue to me. Look in the bios settings for the overheat shutoff settings, see if it is around 50C.

Are you using the stock heatsink/fan? in most cases, the stock hsf is barely adequit. I'd reccomend getting something better, like maybe a 92mm zalman copper cooler.

north bridge over heating GPU over heating? just naming some things. is there alot of dust near the cpu fan making it to spin slower?

the system is brand new, one week old... so no dust at all..
i am using Antech HE500, so i guess it is juicy enough
