why must people yell and scream while applauding?

i miss the days of a just clapping (applauding) why must people yell now? its like "hey im clapping and i like your message but clapping is not enough i must add my high pitched scream to show that i really really really really really like your message"

back when william shakespeare used to put on his plays at the local theatre we always would show praise vocally in addition to typical clapping. it's only recently that golfing events have brought about a form of applause limited only to clapping.

Why bang your hands together at all, when yelling and screaming does the job louder and easier?

Come to think of it, it makes me wonder where the idea of applause came from.

What annoys me is that shrieking whistle that people do with their fingers in their mouth. It's deafening.

Because sometimes clapping isn't loud enough.

The hooters and hollers do not have strong enough clapping muscles, so they need to compensate.
