Why must people lie?

So I just found out that my ex girlfriend lied to me about a load of stuff regarding reasons for breakup, etc. What is the point? Do they somehow think they'll get off easier? Oh well, at least I know now so I won't spend time miserably thinking about it. Anyway the moral of this short post is: Lying sucks, don't lie.

I know most of the time when I'm lying its either to save me uneeded problems, or to save people from the answer I would really like to give them heh. Lots of times you can end a conflict by saying one thing but thinking another... both will end the conflict but the one where you lied on much better terms.

I would lie to someone about why I broke up with them if I thought it would hurt their feelings any less (this is assuming I don't hate the person 😀)

To soften pain, to become better from it, because they think they are speaking the truth as they are religious freaks, loads of reasons really.

her: "do you love me?"
me: "yes."
her: "really?"
me: "yes, very much!"
her: "I love you, too!"
me: "Lets get it ON!!!!!!"

That's why people lie. 😉

i noticed most people lie about stupid stuff because they dont want to hurt the other person they are lying to. personally, i'd rather have people tell me like it is, none of this bs stuff. i mean think about when you get a gift that you dont like but they are so happy about it and they think its the greatest present. do you tell them you dont like it or what?

I lied to my ex about the reason for moving out, because I thought the truth would hurt her very much. The truth was I had fallen out of love with her.
