Why must people be so stupid?

Last night I went to the supermarket. Let me describe the front of this supermarket a bit, as it's relevant.

The store has three sets of doors in front. One set on the left end of the building, with two automatic doors that have big green stickers that say "in" on them. One set in the middle of the building with two automatic doors that have big red stickers that say "do not enter" on them. And one set at the right end of the buiding with one "in" door, and one "do not enter" door.

I show up at the store late at night with my girlfriend and a friend of mine. We walk up to the two doors at the left end of the building and they don't open. We figure its late at night, maybe they lock some of the doors to prevent theft or whatnot. So, we proceed to walk along the front of the building to the entrance at the other side.

In the middle of the buidling, there's a woman who looks to be about 50 years old holding a cart, and trying to enter through the middle set of doors. She pushes the cart up the doors and they don't open. She has an extremely confused look on her face. She backs up a foot or two and pushes the cart forward again. The door still doesn't open. She has a look on her face like she's trying to do calculus porblems in her head.

We are getting pretty close to this woman now, and as we pass I look at her and say "You see the big 'Do not enter' sign on the door?", She says soemthing back like "I know that but sometimes at night they lock the doors".

We all enter the buidling through the "in" door on the right hand side. Shortly after that the woman manages to figure out how we got inside, and she walked past us in the aisle. She gave me abotut he dirtiest look I've ever gotten from a stranger in my life.

My frioend and I thought it was hilarious. My girlfriend said something along the lines of "Just because you ca say something, doesn't mean you should say something".

It's not my fault she's a complete moron.

Why must people post and not check for spelling errors before submitting a thread?

anyway... I think old people are really stubborn and hate to be proven wrong.

The best thing to do is to smile at them when they give you a look.

I don't read doors, I just systematically walk into them until one opens...

Maybe the lady was dumb, but you belitted an older lady in front of your girlfriend then laughed about it with one of your friends. In terms of your relationship, that was pretty stupid.

Your g/f is too nice.

Sometimes you need to give clueless people a little figurative whack upside the head to get the ol' brain going...

IMO, stupid people should be ridiculed. There really is no other incentive left in our society to encourage people to NOT be stupid.

You think that's bad?

I had just been hired for a new job and was in the back area where they test your typing skills and customer service ability. I had already taken the tests a few days ago, but had to come back to be fingerprinted. (CS for USPS) To get out of the room you have to press a blue button located on the wall, right next to the door, and then turn the handle. There is a piece of paper taped above the handle that says something like "press blue button to open door" with a drawn in picture of the blue button. Anyhow, there was an older man taking the test who needed some help. He goes to the door and starts pressing the button on the paper and yanking at the handle trying to get out. He does this a couple of times before someone points out the correct button next to the door. I wonder if he was hired?

I've got one better than that. I was going into a super market just like that, and it had the one entrance and the one exit door. Says 'do no enter' on one, and 'entrance' or whatever on the other.

This burly white-trashy looking woman with in front of me walks up to the 'do not enter' door and when it doesn't open, she pushes the door backwards and says to her dumpy looking friend 'Door's broken'.

Yeah. It was broken, after you forced the motors backwards you stupid ape. Read a sign.

FYI those doors are designed to open either way(in case of emergency) :)

What you said was mean and immature.

No matter how "smart" you are, there is always someone smarter than you.

Keep that in mind next time some smart ass pisses you off because they thought you were "stupid".

Actually, I can see where the lady was coming from. There is a store where I used to live that was open 24 hours and at night they closed off the entrance and everyone had to enter through the exit because it was easier to watch with a reduced staff.

You probably should have just minded your own business instead of insulting her.

The door was held open with a block a couple days later when I went back. I didn't check, but working automatic doors usually don't need to be held open with a block.

And "being a fat moron who can't read" isn't really much of an emergency. :D

On second thought your OP shows how smart or stupid you are as opposed to that poor old lady.

That doesn't explain why she thought the do not enter door would open for her when she shuffled her cart back and forth.

But agreed, he should have just shut up. Most stangers don't like it when you make smart ass comments to them. Thats what friends are for.

Agreed. Most grocery stores do this. But somehow I believe this is something he won't understand.
