why must drivers be so gd complicated?

Trying to restore a dell xps 400.

Got everything installed but 3 things:

sound card which i've tried all 3 downloads on the dell driver/support page and it says i don't have the current hardware. the model number on the sound card says 'sb0350' i tried x-fi extreme audio and others with no success.

also in the device manager:

'PCI Input Device'

any help please?

If you go to the Dell support page, click on the "I'm looking for drivers and downloads" option, then click on the Choose by Service Tag link and enter the service tag for your computer, it will tell you exactly what is in the machine as well as the drivers to use for each of the components.

Hopefully in the future we can move to an all integrated driver type system.
It is currently in testing. All the software needed to use the hardware is already stored on the device itself.
So it is a true plug and play system.

entered the service tag. took me to the same page i tried the drivers off of before i made this thread.

why is it so complicated for companies to have the right drivers under the right system?
