When you look at most mobo specs on NewEgg(at least for Athlon 64)it says somrthing along the lines of DDR266/333/400 Max 4Gb.So if the max on most moos is 400 why get 433 or more?Is it posted wrong on thespecs?Or can someone point me out to a amd mobo that can go over ddr 400.

Its for overclocking. If you are going to overclock the cpu, the ram may also ran faster. people pay extra for 433 so the ram can handle it.

It's for overclocking. Especially for FSB limited processors like the P4s and lower-end A64s.

Like they said above it's for OCing.

Yeah, plenty of mobo's can go above 200/400 (mine's been at 220/440). But they're only rated (guaranteed) to 200/400.

Basically, your motherboard should be able to handle speeds faster than 200mhz as long as your memory will support it. If it does, crank it up and get more FPS.

its a bit of a stretch to say that faster ram directly means more fps. Sure it will help, but cpu and gpu components are still more revelant. The faster ram is really noticable in ram intensive apps such as video or 3d editing.

Most motherboards are tested with a max DDR400 RAM setup, so there's supposedly no guarantee that PC3500 and up will work on a motherboard. I does though, it's just not "guaranteed."

And yeah, I have high speed RAM because I run my CPU overclocked...don't have to worry about my RAM struggling for voltage (runs at 250MHz on 2.5v)
