Excuse any ignorance in this post, but if more consumers start using diesel will that drive the price down as more gets imported? I know the commercial fleets use a lot of diesel, but somehow my logic makes sense to me.

Any validity?

meh, diesel is the same as gas during the summer, sometimes lower, it goes up in the winter, but if you're looking at a car i.e vw tdi, the mpg figures still make it more attractive.

No, they make a profit & calculate how much you'll save & charge accordingly, diesel engines cost a little more to produce, but they charge up the ass for them...
