I thought the memory on the GTO2 is rated to 600mhz? I cant get it over 550, Would have expected a lil closer to 600, core goes to 500-515. Maybe I got a dud cuz temps stay in the low-mid 60s. Think a ATI Silencer 5 rev 2 would help alot, or am I stuck with a semi-dud.

Is this after or before unlocking pipes? Sometimes the unlocked pipes cant OC as high as the others, so that may be holding you back. But in general there are no guarantees with OC'ing, so you may have just gotten a "bad" OC'er compared to others, although a 100+ mhz OC is nothing to scoff at.

A cooler wouldnt do much to help the overclocks, just to help temperatures. I think you got a dud overclocker.

Your PSU could be holding you back... It only has 18Amps on the 12V rail... You do have an Opty that's overclocked... The PSU is probably even holding your CPU back...

I thought I had a memory dud also, wouldn't go past about 540 .. But I went ahead with the mod and flashed with a 850XT BIOS , and whammo .. Memory will go past 600 with ATI Tool..

Must be something in the GTO2 BIOS that holds the memory back..

Caution !! After I flashed to the 850XT BIOS, the fan on the stock HS quit working..
I just connected it to an external connector , and all is well..

Isnt the 850XT bios the one I used to flash to 16pipes? Also would putting my Coolermaster RealPower in here be better it has dual 12v rail. +12V1@18A, +12V2@16A

By giving that a try, you would know immediately yeah... :) Try to further overclock your Opty as well...

EDIT: The Real Power is better with its dual 12V rails...

That's a known problem when flashing a x850xt bios. The "correct" bios to flash would be the modified 16pipe gto2 bios, linked in that techpowerup article. If you flash an actual x850xt bios then you've changed more stuff than just unlocking pipes.

The modding BIOS from TechPowerUp doesn?t do anything but unlock the pipes..
( as far as I know ) It leaves the clocks at ~ 400/400 ..

I used this BIOS ..
X850 XT (AGP) 256 MB 520/540

http://www.techpowerup.com/bios/Sapphire.X800XT.256.Samsung16_050119.bin

Note !! Like I said, it disabled the fan on the stock HS..

Of course I am not recommending YOU do anything that would void your warranty,
and you do so at your own risk.. I am just sharing my experience.

Haha, well im havin all kinds of issues with this new rig, after a week or 2 when I got all the bugs worked out ill really get down to business. The bios I flashed my GTO2 with was from a link on this forum to a premade ISO, Havent figured out how to make a bootable bios ISO yet so I used that.

dont be sure to flash the x850xt bios just yet. memory clocks arent everything. The x850xt bios probably increases latency, thus allowing higher clocks. It's debatable wether higher clocks or lower latency makes a card faster though...

Well after realizing I will have Half life 2 issues, fixing aquamark3 and straighteneing everything out, I also cloned my old hd and put it in here instead of starting fresh. So 2 days of hell and I finally got it all straight. I managed to get my overclock higher too for some reason it will go to X850 XT PE and make it through aquamark3. Which I managed to score 76,000 in. So who knows, maybe Ill throw on a ATI Silencer in the next few weeks and tinker a lil more, but now I have to work on my cpu overclock.
